1. Introduction
PowerBox Technology, Inc. ("PowerBox," "we," "us," or "our") provides an Energy Management Platform ("EMP") and related hardware and software for industrial manufacturing facilities, together with this website located at powerboxtech.com (the "Site," and together with the EMP, the "Services").
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the Site and the Services, how we use and share that information, and the choices available to you. By using the Site or the Services, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
If you access or use the EMP as an employee or representative of a customer facility, your use of the platform may also be governed by a separate services agreement between PowerBox and your employer. In the event of a conflict between that agreement and this Privacy Policy with respect to the processing of personal information, the services agreement will control.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Information you provide directly — such as your name, company, job title, email address, phone number, and any message content when you request an energy assessment, book a demo, contact us, or otherwise communicate with us.
- Account and platform information — if you are provisioned as a user of the EMP, information needed to create and manage your account, such as your name, email address, facility/site assignment, and notification preferences.
- SMS opt-in information — if you choose to enroll in SMS operational notifications, your mobile phone number and the fact that you opted in. See Section 5 for details.
- Operational and energy monitoring data — data generated by monitored electrical and energy assets at a customer facility. See Section 4 for details.
- Automatically collected website data — standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and referring/exit pages, collected through standard web server logs and analytics tools when you visit the Site. See Section 10.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- Operate, maintain, and provide the Site and the Services;
- Respond to inquiries, schedule demos, and process energy assessment requests;
- Deliver operational notifications you have enrolled in, including SMS alerts described in Section 5;
- Monitor, analyze, and improve the performance, reliability, and security of the Site and the Services;
- Communicate with you about your account, your facility's deployment, or your inquiry; and
- Comply with applicable legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
We do not use SMS opt-in information or mobile phone numbers collected for operational notifications to send marketing or promotional messages.
4. Energy Monitoring and Operational Data
The EMP is designed to monitor electrical power distribution systems and connected assets at a customer's facility, including data such as voltage, load, power quality, and equipment status. This operational data is used to power dashboards, analytics, reporting, and automated notifications (including the SMS notifications described below).
Operational and energy monitoring data is generated by equipment and systems at a customer facility rather than collected directly from individual website visitors. Ownership, access rights, and processing of this data for a given facility are governed by the applicable services agreement between PowerBox and the facility operator.
5. SMS Notifications and Consent
PowerBox Technology, Inc. collects mobile phone numbers from users who explicitly opt in to receive operational SMS notifications through the PowerBox Energy Management Platform (EMP).
Mobile phone numbers are used to deliver automated notifications regarding electrical power distribution conditions, equipment status, power quality disturbances, power outages, and related operational events.
Mobile phone numbers and SMS opt-in consent information will not be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Information may be processed by messaging service providers solely for the purpose of delivering requested operational notifications.
Message frequency varies depending on monitored electrical conditions and configured notification thresholds. Message and data rates may apply.
Users may opt out of SMS notifications at any time by replying STOP to a received message.
6. Information Sharing and Third-Party Service Providers
We do not sell personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers. We engage third-party service providers to help us operate the Site and deliver the Services — for example, infrastructure and hosting providers, messaging providers (such as Twilio) that transmit SMS notifications on our behalf, and email delivery providers used for website inquiries. These providers process information only as necessary to perform the services we request and are not authorized to use it for their own marketing purposes.
- Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of PowerBox, our customers, or others.
- Business transfers. If PowerBox is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
Consistent with Section 5, mobile phone numbers and SMS opt-in consent information are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. A service provider processing that information to deliver a requested text message is not the same as sharing it for marketing — the distinction is that service providers act on our behalf, under our instructions, solely to deliver the service you requested, and do not independently use the information for their own promotional purposes.
7. Data Security
We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, to provide the Services, and to comply with our legal, accounting, and reporting obligations. Operational and energy monitoring data associated with a customer facility is retained in accordance with the applicable services agreement with that customer.
9. User Rights and Choices
You may contact us at any time to ask us to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, subject to applicable law and any contractual obligations we have to a customer facility. You may opt out of SMS notifications at any time by replying STOP, as described in Section 5. You may also control cookies and similar technologies through your browser settings, as described in Section 10.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
